this wants to be a kiriban prize for catching my 13k; dedicated to :iconmageprydain: :)
BehindTheScenes :D : I wanted to try global radiosity, but the render time woulda been way too long; it woulda taken even more than a day! :confused: ...so I decided to abort the render and restart it with the usual global illumination. Sorry for that :blushes:
...but I hope you like it :)
This way it took 7h29'26'' to render (1024 × 768 only)
just for fun fact :lol:: ...17 007 551 047 polygons :D

Vue 6 Infinite + a little postwork in CS3

Looks great!

Hey, I was wondering, do you ';paint' you terrains manually in the terrain editor, or do you use procedural terrains and hit 'mountain' until you like it, or do you make a black/white height map, or ... ?

Until now i find it pretty hard to create good and 'natural looking' terrains, but i see you don't have that problem ;)

lol let me tell you that I do have problems with terrains; it's really rare when I'm satisfied with them, since I never find them realistic :(. I rarely use procedural terrains (I didn't use it in this scene either); and I rarely paint them. Mostly I just use those options on the left (like peak, canyon, no edges etc...). I don't make a height map; I just set the height manually in the scene :D ...that's bcuz I haven't read any tutorial about terrains or anything else...I'm too lazy :D :D..perhaps I should :lol:

I love grassy tree-filled fields people make in Vue, and you really pulled it off! :) This is a beautiful scene. What rendering resolution did you use (sharp, crisp, etc.)?

Alright, awesome. I'm still experimenting with Vue, and it's helpful to hear what settings other artists use to achieve their results. Your ecosystem is impressive in this pic. :D

Hm... the damn render time again. But you could always give it another try on a day when you are away - let it work while you're enjoying yourself elsewhere! :D
