It's recommended to view this pic, because you barely have a chance to see Hikone Castle and Ta Prohm temple ruins this close to each other :XD:

Hikone Castle, Ta Prohm ruins, Gill's water, rock material & black willow from c3D
Birdies by :iconmidnightstouch:

Rendered in Vue 7 Infinite; minor postwork in PS CS4

Thanks for viewing! =)

Great work, I really like the way the vegetation hangs over the edges of that central rock column. Kind of similar to some of the scenery I saw in Wuyishan mountains. They had the most incredible cliffs and seemingly impossibly places temples with a similar kind of vegetation. This photo [link] (not one of mine alas :-) almost does the beauty of it justice or this one [link] (again not mine)

Superb rock structures, eco-system and integration of elements: hardly even looks like a Vue-generated image. Great example of everything working perfectly together in the scale area, including the textures. This isn't an easy thing to achieve. Beautiful work.

It took only 2 hours with 3 235 822 759 polys? :O_o:

lol trust me, compared to some of my other renders, that's not that much (I mean the number of polygons) :XD: ...the last render has almost 8 billion! :D

How many CPU do you use?
Cause when I have about 50 millions polys it takes about 1-2 hours for render at superior quality, but when I have Clouds Layers render time take about 16-20 hours :D

I use an Intel Core 2 Quad (4 × 2.33 GHz) and 6 GB RAM
Yeah clouds and atmo quality boost can increase render time

another great moody scene... well done :)
very good use of HTs, specially on the castle and the background...

i think the ruins are too small... kinda out of scale...
it looks closer than the other objects so i assume it should look bigger...

the valley looks great...
at 1st glance, i didnt notice the water, but after reading your comments about the objects used i noticed it down there... very nice ^^
the birds look real too... good size :)

finnaly, the pagoda and the building in the background...
it reminds me of ancient china, where everything is so distant... those could be temples of ancient wise guys or something :)
the pagoda is very well placed indeed ^^

overall comment, brilliant scene!

Thank you for this very detailed analysis; it was definitely worth those looong minutes yesterday :D
I've already told you about the ruin scale, but yeah you're right :)
lol more people told (at C3D too) that this render looked like an old Chinese painting...I should search for old Chinese paintings for reference :XD:
Thank you :)
